Hi everyone,

I'm back from holiday now, and we've done some planning for the website relaunch. Here is an overview of the plans:

  • The site will be roughly split into two main areas:
    • About Mahara, which will provide information about Mahara, e-portfolios, the roadmap etc.
    • Community, which will have improved forums, a project blog, links to the bug tracker (which will remain on eduforge), and the improved wiki
  • We're going to clean up the demo site as well, giving it links to a bunch of useful information about Mahara. We hope to also populate it with some nice sample content. After the relaunch, we'll probably reset the demo site periodically.
  • The new forums will be a combination of Drupal modules, and should be a lot nicer than the current ones. We plan to have full searching available throughout the site. We will hopefully migrate all the existing forum content to the new forums.
  • The wiki will be a DekiWiki. We will probably migrate most of the content of the current wiki manually
  • Andy has produced a bunch of new content for the site, including user guides, wiki content and stuff for the "About Mahara" section.
  • As part of the site relaunch, I'll try and write a bunch of documentation on how to create Mahara plugins, language packs and themes

One thing that we're not covering with this is a section for the community to submit their own themes/plugins/langpacks etc... I hope that we will get to do this soon after the first round of work is done. We haven't yet planned out how this would work, so your feedback is welcome! Currently what I think is that we have mini-projects on the site, kinda the same way drupal.org does it (for those of you unfamiliar with this, just imagine that each project would get something similar to a sourceforge project page). And some kind of integration with git too. But other than that, we're open for ideas.
