Hello! You are looking at an archived forum discussion from the old mahara.org website. You cannot reply to this topic, but if you wish to discuss it, you can sign up to mahara.org and ask about this in the new forums.

Mahara is a really great tool for students to manage their own personal ePortfolios. However, there are a couple of questions and suggestions that I have:

1. Institutional Themes
It'll be great if we can customise each institution with a separate theme. This will provide better branding for schools. A custom login screen, i.e. http://www.mysite.com/institutename/ (via mod_rewrite) can also be used to allow the login page to display the institutes's custom theme (and remove the need for students to select from a long dropdown list of institutions).

2. User Profile Editor
I'm using 0.9.2 and I can't seem to find any link from the Site Administration to modify the user's Profile. This is because I changed the default quota from 10MBs to 50MBs, but I can't seem to find a link to modify my own profile's quota. I had to 'hack' it by editing the quota from the MySQL database directly. I hope this basic feature can be (or is it already?) included in the 1.0 release.

There're a couple of problems I picked up along the way, but I'll give it a more through check before dismissing as a bug of the system. That's all from me for now. I'll be looking forward to a stable release of 1.0 with more exciting features (=

1. Implemented in 1.0.

1. Implemented in 1.0. Though not the custom log in screen. Usernames are unique in 1.0 - no need for the institution dropdown

2. Yes this feature is implemented in 1.0. Each user has a 'user admin' page linked to from admin user search, where you can change their quota, password, suspend them, log in as them etc...

Error in 1.0

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I didn't see your reply until today when I popped by the Mahara website and was pleasantly surprised by the availability of version 1.0.

After upgrading my current install to 1.0.0, everything went well until I visited the Institution Members, Institutional Staff and Institutional Administrators pages. The following error message is displayed: A nonrecoverable error occured. This probably means you have encountered a bug in the system

My institution is using internal authentication. There are also no users displayed when the above mentioned pages are loaded.

Those bugs are fixed in 1.0.1 :)
